Zoho suite adds business-grade email
Refreshes Zoho Doc interface, launches iPad app.
Zoho has upgraded its Zoho Mail to its comprehensive application suite. The service adds business-oriented features for classifying and sorting email which have been available in competitors Gmail for Business and Exchange Online.
Prices start at US$2 per user per month for 10GB email storage and phone and email support. A 15GB storage version is available for US$3 per user per month.
By comparison Google Apps is US$5 per user per month and Microsoft Office 365 is US$6 per user per month, though both come with 25GB storage per user.
Zoho Mail now supports folders and labels, can tag incoming messages with labels and flags and move them to folders using rules and filters.
A search function finds terms inside attachments as well as within the body of emails.
Zoho Mail also has an integrated instant chat interface and an optimised mobile web interface for Apple iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices.
The Zoho suite includes integrated calendar, tasks, notes and contacts. Users can share calendars, set reminders and assign tasks within Zoho Mail.
The email program can be set up to sync with desktop email clients such as Outlook and Thunderbird using POP or IMAP protocols.
Zoho has included a richer set of administrator controls such as email policies for mailbox quotas and access privileges, which can be assigned to different groups of users.
Group policy management includes spam control and moderation.
Zoho Mail can add and manage multiple domains and set up customised email addresses and aliases for business users.
The release coincided with an upgrade to the Zoho Docs document management platform. The new interface looks cleaner and similar to Google Docs, though it retains the folder metaphor from Windows rather than Google’s collections.
New features include drag and dropping files, and more flexibility in attaching documents.
Zoho also released a native iPad application that is available free from the Apple App Store.
