Backup storage planner
Model data growth, restore points and separate copies conservatively.
Planning estimates only. Defaults are illustrative assumptions, not supplier quotes. Edit them for your business. Monetary inputs are AUD excluding GST unless a field says otherwise.

Method, assumptions and limitations
Future source = current GB × (1 + growth/100)^years. Full model per-copy capacity = future source × restore points. Incremental model per-copy capacity = future source × [1 + (restore points − 1) × changed fraction]. Total provision = per-copy capacity × copies × (1 + headroom/100). 1,000 GB = 1 decimal TB.
Source data is additional to the backup capacity calculated. Copies are separate backup destinations, not the original data. Incremental chains, periodic synthetic fulls, immutability, deleted-file retention and storage billing can change actual consumption. This model gives no credit for deduplication or compression; encrypted, media and already compressed data may save little. Vendor retention semantics differ. Separate copies alone do not guarantee an offline or isolated backup.
