Method, assumptions and limitations

Download demand = calls × call download + other active users × web download + bulk downloads. Upload demand = calls × call upload + other active users × web upload + background uploads. Multiply each by 1 + headroom/100.

These editable rates are illustrative averages, not vendor requirements or guaranteed service levels. Confirm the applications you use and measure a busy period. Actual demand is bursty. Internet access speed is distinct from local switching capacity and Wi-Fi radio coverage. Walls, interference, channel use, client radios and access-point placement require a site assessment; floor area alone cannot determine how many access points you need.
